Create rays of sun or rays of light with Photoshop

In this tutorial I will show you how to create rays of sun or rays of light with photoshop.

NB: If you have problems to viewing images in this tutorial:
Right click on the white square with a red and click on the image display.

As the base image, I took the photo in the tutorial " Convert a photo into black and white with photoshop " : viewtopic.php?f=24&t=72

To begin, we must duplicate the layer by clicking Layer / Duplicate Layer.
Click on Image / Adjustment / Levels

Move the cursor from left to right to make the image black except the area that will serve as a source of light.

Click on Filter / Blur / Radial Blur

Put as 100, choose the Zoom method, take the best quality and in the small window at right, select the center and the direction of the effect and click "OK".

Make several times the keystrokes CTRL + F to increase the effect.
Now click on Image / Adjustment / Levels

Move the cursor from right to left to lighten the rays of light.

Change the layer's blending mode from Normal to Lighten (you can also choose screen to create another effect).

Here is the final result.

This gives a somewhat more mystical side to the picture, this type of effect is very beautiful with the sunset, caves, church, ...

Method 2 : Create rays of sun or rays of light with Photosho

Here is the method 2 and / or complements the first to create sun rays and light rays in Photoshop.

NB: If you have problems to viewing images in this tutorial:
Right click on the white square with a red and click on the image display.

Choose the Polygon Lasso tool and give a Feather value of 8 pixels for example.

make selections with the mouse that will give shape to your sunshine.
To create multiple selections hold the SHIFT key pressed permanently.

Click Layer / New Adjustment Layer / Levels.

On the right side of the Photoshop window appears Levels adjustment.
Move the gray slider in the middle to the left according to the strength of the effect you wish to donate.
